The TrueClot® Gunshot Wound Packing Task Trainer provides that practice environment with a level of anatomical realism unavailable from basic mannequins or simulated wound props.
This Task Trainer is enhanced based on customer feedback and features an improved design where the bleeding point is not aligned with the inlet tube—making the wound more realistic and challenging. The inlet tube no longer protrudes into the wound space, eliminating a common unrealistic artifact from earlier-generation trainers. The result is a wound cavity that behaves more like an actual gunshot wound: the blood simulant enters, flows realistically, and interacts with the packing gauze to form visible clots that provide tactile feedback to the trainee.
What distinguishes this trainer from the Laceration variant is the inclusion of a hard plastic simulated bone with a fracture defect within the wound cavity. This bone insert forces trainees to navigate the packing technique around a structural obstacle—accurately replicating the challenge of packing a high-velocity gunshot wound that has fragmented bone. The bone insert is removable for thorough cleaning between training sessions, extending the trainer's useful life across multiple training events.
