Why is the RAVEN® 90C the official litter of the U.S. Navy?
The RAVEN® Model 90C earned its designation as the U.S. Navy's official litter through rigorous evaluation of its performance across Navy-specific requirements: chemical warfare agent testing, antimicrobial coating for maritime storage, U.S. Air Force safe-to-fly certification for MEDEVAC operations, compatibility with Navy and DoD medical treatment facilities, and proven 1,200 lb payload capacity for the full range of operational scenarios.
Has the RAVEN® 90C been tested for chemical warfare agents?
Yes. The RAVEN® 90C's slip-resistant, chemical-resistant rip-stop fabric has been tested and cleared by both federal and private laboratories using live chemical warfare agents. This CWA compatibility is essential for any litter deployed in environments where NBC (Nuclear, Biological, Chemical) contamination is possible, making the 90C suitable for CBRN response scenarios.
Is the RAVEN® 90C certified safe-to-fly?
Yes. The RAVEN® 90C is certified safe-to-fly by the U.S. Air Force, enabling its use in MEDEVAC hoist operations and fixed-wing/rotary-wing medical evacuation aircraft. This certification, combined with its Navy adoption, makes the 90C the only litter dual-certified by both major U.S. military service aviation medical standards.
What accessories are compatible with the RAVEN® 90C?
The RAVEN® 90C supports an ecosystem of NAR accessories including IV poles, stretcher stands, and a supplemental backrest for patient positioning. The NAR WALK® Bag is specifically designed to carry the 90C alongside medical supplies. The NAR RIG Series Assault Litter Carrier (for quad-fold litters) is not compatible — the 90C uses a bi-fold format requiring a bi-fold-compatible carrier.
What is the difference between the RAVEN® 90C and the OSL Oversized Litter?
The RAVEN® 90C is the standard patient platform (W 22.5 in., 1,200 lb payload, 16 lb 8 oz), designed for average-sized patients and official U.S. Navy service. The OSL Oversized Litter is a wider variant (W 31 in., 1,600 lb floor payload, 22 lb 6 oz) with 6 stirrups (vs. 0 on the 90C's standard configuration) specifically designed for bariatric or larger patients. Both use the bi-fold configuration and are U.S. Air Force safe-to-fly certified.
Is the RAVEN Model 90C CoTCCC-compatible for CASEVAC?
Yes. The RAVEN is a rigid litter suitable for all phases of TCCC patient movement from tactical field care through TACEVAC. Its rigid platform supports spinal precaution positioning and proper patient loading for helicopter extraction, consistent with TCCC TACEVAC phase requirements.
What is the weight capacity of the RAVEN Model 90C?
Refer to the North American Rescue product datasheet for the rated patient capacity. Standard military rigid litters are typically rated for 600 lb static load; dynamic carry capacity is lower. Distribute patient and equipment weight evenly across the litter surface.
Does the RAVEN come with litter stands?
Litter stands are sold separately (see NAR Litter Stands 33″). The RAVEN is compatible with standard military and NAR litter stand configurations. Confirm stand compatibility before purchasing.
What is the NSN for the RAVEN Model 90C Bi-fold Litter?
Contact MED-TAC International for current NSN, pricing, and government procurement options for the RAVEN. Our sales team can assist with DLA ordering, MIPR support, and cooperative purchasing vehicles.
Is the RAVEN suitable for helicopter hoist/extraction operations?
Confirm hoist extraction compatibility with your aircraft crew and the specific hoist rigging being used. The RAVEN's rigid frame is compatible with most military and civilian hoist systems, but rigging points and litter strap systems should be verified against your platform. NAR accessories include compatible strapping for aerial extraction.
