How does the Linebacker IV securing device work?

The Linebacker is a mechanical IV catheter retention device included in TacMed kits. It provides a secondary anchor beyond the Tegaderm adhesive dressing, securing the catheter hub to the skin to prevent dislodgement during patient movement. This is particularly important during tactical evacuation when patients may be moved repeatedly and quickly.

What is a Smartsite adapter?

The Smartsite adapter is a needleless access port that serves as the saline lock valve. Once placed on the catheter hub, it provides a sealed access point for syringe or IV line connection without requiring a needle puncture for each medication administration. This reduces provider needle-stick exposure and allows repeated access to the IV site during the casualty care and evacuation phases.
