The AIRWRAP® Compression Bandage with Inflatable Bladder by RevMedX (4 in. SKU FIN-0005-01; 6 in. SKU FIN-0005-02) is an innovative elastic bandage featuring an integrated inflatable bladder for precise, adjustable wound pressure. Clinically shown to reduce treatment time by 50% and blood loss by 75% vs. traditional methods, it applies focal, continuous pressure from point of injury through definitive care. NSN: 6530-01-643-5297 (4 in.). Standard issue in medic and corpsman kits.

Product Overview
The AIRWRAP® Compression Bandage addresses a fundamental limitation of all conventional pressure bandages: the inability to maintain focused, adjustable pressure on a wound without ongoing manual hold. A standard elastic wrap generates compression only through the elastic tension of the wrapped material, which decreases over time as the wrap relaxes or as patient movement shifts the dressing. The AIRWRAP integrates an inflatable bladder into the elastic bandage, allowing the provider to apply a controlled amount of focal pressure directly over the wound site and lock it in place — freeing hands for other patient care tasks.
The inflatable bladder is controlled via a standard bulb pump (included) and features a Luer-lock port for inflation with IV saline using a 60cc syringe — a clinically important capability during air transport, where altitude changes affect pneumatic pressure. A pop-up indicator signals the user when the bladder has reached adequate inflation. Studies cited by RevMedX (Kragh et al., 2014) demonstrate that AIRWRAP application reduces treatment time by 50% and blood loss by 75% compared to traditional pressure dressing methods — a substantial clinical improvement attributed to the consistent, sustained focal pressure the inflatable bladder provides.
The AIRWRAP also applies over 3× the point pressure of standard pressure dressings (Israeli, OLAES, etc.) at the wound site, making it particularly effective for wound presentations requiring more compression than elastic wrapping alone can provide. Key specialized applications include tourniquet conversion — where the AIRWRAP is applied before tourniquet removal to maintain pressure during the transition — and ruptured dialysis fistulas, where the AIRWRAP can apply pressure above the rupture site without occluding the fistula as a standard tourniquet would. Small Velcro tabs at regular intervals prevent the bandage from unraveling completely if dropped during application.
