Product Overview
The TacMed™ RISE™ is one of the most versatile rigid splinting systems available for individual operator kits. It was designed from direct battlefield feedback to address a specific gap: most individual first aid kits have no rigid splinting capability at all, defaulting to improvised solutions when solid immobilization is needed. The RISE changes this by delivering a rigid polymer splint that folds compactly enough to fit in any standard military IFAK — including the U.S. Army IFAK II — while providing three distinct clinical configurations.
The straight splint configuration provides standard upper or lower extremity immobilization for fractures and severe sprains. The 90-degree configuration — locked in place with the integrated securing snaps — is optimized for forearm and wrist fractures that require the anatomical position of function. The pelvic stabilizer configuration is unique to the RISE: the cutout slots in the splint body allow a windlass or ratcheting tourniquet (such as the SOF® Tourniquet) to be threaded through and used as a tension mechanism around the posterior pelvis, providing improvised pelvic circumferential compression when a dedicated pelvic sling is unavailable.
Dynamic living hinges allow the RISE to fold at pre-formed points and immediately return to a stable immobilizing configuration when unfolded — unlike softer flexible splints that require external force to maintain shape. All three application configurations are screen-printed directly on the splint surface, eliminating the need to reference a separate instruction sheet under stress. The polymer construction is unaffected by saltwater, chemical decontamination agents, and standard field cleaning, supporting maintenance in deployed environments.
