System Components
- ClearView Patient Carrier (CVPC) — Pole-less litter with patent-pending transparent monitoring windows that allow continuous visual patient assessment without opening the thermal cocoon. Two-way upper and lower access ports permit treatment access during transport. Supports up to 350 lbs. Wind- and moisture-resistant nylon backing.
- Foldable Drag Litter System (FDLS) — Accordion-fold design that remains flexible and deployable at freezing temperatures (unlike rolled litters that become stiff and brittle in cold). Integrated insulated cocoon design retains patient heat. Can be dragged or carried across a variety of terrain types.
- H.E.A.T. Storage Backpack — Compact carry system for the entire set at 19.5 × 12.5 × 4.5 in., 10 lbs total.
Product Overview
Hypothermia is a lethal complication in tactical trauma. The Hypothermia Prevention and Management Kit (HPMK) is a CoTCCC-recommended item specifically because hypothermia dramatically worsens the coagulopathy associated with hemorrhagic shock — the "lethal triad" of acidosis, coagulopathy, and hypothermia is a well-documented cause of death in wounded patients whose hemorrhage is otherwise controlled. The H.E.A.T.™ Set addresses this threat with an integrated system designed to maintain patient thermal stability while enabling rapid movement from the point of injury.
The ClearView Patient Carrier (CVPC) is the defining innovation of this system. Traditional litter designs require a provider to open or partially remove a patient's thermal covering to visually assess the patient during transport — breaking the thermal barrier at the exact moment when temperature preservation is critical. The CVPC's patent-pending ClearView monitoring windows allow direct visual observation of the patient's condition, wound sites, and airway through the transparent panels without any exposure. The two-way access ports permit IV access, wound checks, or other interventions through the litter wall.
The Foldable Drag Litter System addresses a real operational limitation of rolled litters: in sub-freezing conditions, traditional flexible litters become rigid and unmanageable. The FDLS's accordion-fold design retains flexibility at freezing temperatures and deploys rapidly without the "unrolling" sequence that costs precious seconds. The integrated insulated cocoon adds the thermal barrier needed to preserve the patient's body heat during transport across exposed terrain, through water, or in vehicle-confined movement.
