PRODUCT INFORMATION

What is the TacMed™ Basic Endotracheal Kit? The TacMed™ Basic Endotracheal Kit (SKU: MEDTAC0737) is a complete endotracheal intubation kit assembled by Tactical Medical Solutions for advanced airway providers performing orotracheal intubation. The kit contains: ET Tubes size 6 (cuffed), size 7, and size 8; a 15Fr bougie introducer; Grip-ET with bite block; 10Fr Flexi-Slip stylet; 3x Surgilube; 10cc LL syringe; Easy Cap CO2 detector; and 4PR Blackmaxx Gloves (Large). Advanced provider only — endotracheal intubation requires advanced airway training and medical director authorization.

Advanced Provider Only — Endotracheal Intubation Endotracheal intubation (ETI) requires advanced airway training, hands-on simulation practice, and medical director authorization. CoTCCC does not recommend RSI prehospital — ETI without RSI is appropriate only for deeply comatose patients with absent airway reflexes. Not for use by untrained personnel.

Product Overview

The TacMed™ Basic Endotracheal Kit consolidates the essential components for orotracheal intubation into a single pre-assembled kit — eliminating the need to source individual components separately and reducing the risk of missing a critical item when definitive airway management is required. The kit reflects Tactical Medical Solutions' approach to pre-assembling clinically appropriate component sets designed for real operational environments.

Three ET tube sizes (6 cuffed, 7, and 8) cover the range of adult tracheal anatomy — with the size 6 cuffed tube appropriate for smaller adult airways (typically females or smaller males), size 7 as a common first-line adult choice, and size 8 for larger adult airways. Including three sizes in a single kit eliminates the need to re-stock after a tube selection is made in the field. The 15Fr bougie introducer is a critical difficult-airway adjunct: when direct or video-assisted laryngoscopy provides a Grade III or IV view and the tracheal opening cannot be directly visualized, the bougie allows the provider to place the tip into the trachea by feel, then railroad the ET tube over the bougie — significantly improving first-pass success in difficult airways.

The Easy Cap colorimetric CO2 detector provides immediate tube placement confirmation: correct endotracheal placement produces color change with each breath cycle (breath-to-breath response), while esophageal placement produces no colorimetric response. Colorimetric ETCO2 is the standard of care for field confirmation of ET tube placement when waveform capnography is unavailable. The Grip-ET bite block prevents the patient from biting down and occluding the tube, eliminating the need for a separate bite block or oropharyngeal airway for tube protection.

TCCC Context — ETI Without RSI: CoTCCC does not recommend RSI in the prehospital tactical environment. Endotracheal intubation without RSI is appropriate only for deeply comatose patients (GCS ≤8 with absent airway reflexes) — typically encountered in TACEVAC-level care with highly trained special operations medical providers. In civilian EMS, ETI with this kit requires advanced paramedic-level training, medical director protocol authorization, and ideally video laryngoscopy capability.
