Product Overview
Pulse oximetry is the standard vital sign monitor for oxygen saturation, and the Masimo MightySat™ Rx represents the highest available accuracy in a fingertip form factor. The defining technology is Masimo SET® — a Signal Extraction Technology using five parallel signal processing engines to measure through motion and low perfusion conditions that defeat conventional oximeters. While consumer-grade oximeters rely on ambient motion averaging and often fail during patient movement, cold hands, or poor circulation, SET® is clinically validated to deliver accurate readings under these exact conditions. This is the technology deployed in ICUs and operating rooms worldwide, now available in a 73-gram fingertip device.
Beyond the standard SpO₂ and pulse rate displayed on entry-level oximeters, the MightySat Rx measures three additional clinically meaningful parameters. Perfusion Index (Pi) quantifies the ratio of pulsatile to non-pulsatile blood flow — a proxy for peripheral perfusion that indicates hemodynamic status, shock, and medication effects on vasculature. Pleth Variability Index (PVi®) assesses respiratory variation in the photoplethysmographic signal, used clinically to predict fluid responsiveness in ventilated patients. Respiration Rate from the Pleth (RRp, 4–70/min) derives breathing rate non-invasively from the pulse waveform, providing a respiratory rate assessment without any separate sensor or manual count.
The rotating touchscreen with 150° viewing angle eliminates the frustration of fixed-orientation displays when the device must be read at unusual angles during patient transport or examination. Signal IQ® provides a confidence indicator for each reading — alerting the provider when signal quality is insufficient for clinical decision-making. Bluetooth LE enables connection to the Masimo SafetyNet® app for trend data, session storage, and remote sharing for telehealth workflows. The MightySat Rx is classified as Rx only in the U.S., appropriate for clinical and trained provider use.
