The OLAES® Modular Trauma Dressing by Tactical Medical Solutions is the most versatile combat bandage available in a single compact package. Built with direct input from experienced combat medics, it combines a pressure cup for focused wound compression, 3 meters of zig-zag packed sterile gauze for wound packing, a removable occlusive plastic sheet for sealing penetrating chest wounds, and hook-and-loop control strips to prevent accidental unrolling — all without hooks or clips that slow application. Available in 4" and 6" widths, including a flat-packed 4" option.

Product Overview
The OLAES® Modular Trauma Dressing was developed by Tactical Medical Solutions with direct input from combat medics who needed a single bandage capable of handling every wound scenario encountered in austere, high-tempo environments. Traditional combat bandages — even the Israeli Battle Dressing — are single-function tools. The OLAES integrates four discrete functions into one compact package: a pressure dressing, a wound packing gauge, an occlusive chest seal, and an eye shield — without adding operational complexity. There are no hooks, clips, or separate components to drop or lose under stress. Application uses gross motor skills throughout, a deliberate design choice that maintains functionality when fine motor control is degraded by cold, gloves, shock, or combat stress.
The transparent pressure cup is the OLAES's key functional differentiator. Unlike an Esmark bandage or standard elastic wrap, which generate circumferential pressure distributed around the entire limb, the OLAES pressure cup focuses compression precisely on the wound site — directly over the damaged vessels that need occlusion. This targeted pressure is more effective at hemorrhage control per unit of force applied, and the transparent material allows ongoing visual inspection of the wound without removing the dressing. The pressure cup can also be removed and repurposed as a rigid eye shield, a specific capability cited in CoTCCC guidelines for management of ocular injuries in the field.
The integrated 3-meter sterile gauze feeds smoothly from the zig-zag packed dressing pocket for rapid wound packing without tangles. The plastic occlusive sheet stored behind the dressing pad deploys instantly for use as a improvised chest seal when dedicated devices are unavailable. Hook-and-loop control strips — what TacMed Solutions terms "brakes" — are built into the elastic wrap at intervals, preventing accidental unrolling and maintaining the bandage's position under movement. The OLAES is available on Contract # SPE2DO-20-D-0007, making it accessible through government procurement channels. What's Inside Every OLAES
- Elastic wrap with hook-and-loop control strips (brakes) integrated at intervals
- Transparent pressure cup — focused wound compression; removable for use as rigid eye shield
- 3 meters of sterile 4-ply gauze — zig-zag packed for tangle-free extraction and deep wound packing
- Plastic occlusive sheet — stored in dressing pocket; deploys as improvised chest seal for penetrating thoracic wounds
- No hooks, no clips — Velcro® fastener strips secure throughout application
Application Guide
- Pressure dressing use: Remove the OLAES from its packaging. Place the pressure cup directly over the wound site and begin wrapping the elastic bandage around the limb, using control strips to lock layers in place. Secure with Velcro® end tab.
- Wound packing: Extract the 3-meter gauze from the dressing pocket and pack directly into the wound cavity using fingertip pressure. Once packed, apply the elastic wrap over the packing and secure with Velcro®.
- Chest seal use: Remove the plastic occlusive sheet from behind the dressing pad. Apply directly over the open chest wound, sealing on three sides (leave one edge open or use with a vented chest seal).
- Eye shield use: Remove the pressure cup from the bandage. Place directly over a penetrating eye injury to prevent pressure on the globe during evacuation.
