Product Overview
The TacMed™ Control Wrap addresses one of the most frequently overlooked failure points in field trauma care: a bandage that unrolls itself during application. Standard elastic bandages are unreliable under stress — during angle changes, patient movement, or one-handed application, the roll can slip, contaminating a clean bandage and wasting critical seconds. Tactical Medical Solutions®, drawing on the same engineering principles used in their OLAES® and BLAST® bandages, integrated a series of adhesive "brakes" directly into the elastic weave of the Control Wrap to eliminate this failure mode.
The Control Wrap is a universal supporting bandage designed to work in conjunction with primary hemostatic and pressure dressings. After applying a primary wound dressing (such as a hemostatic bandage or pressure dressing), the Control Wrap secures and maintains pressure without requiring continuous manual holding or tape application — particularly valuable in self-aid situations where one hand may be occupied or injured. The 4" width is suited for extremity wounds and smaller body areas; the 6" width provides broader coverage for larger wound surfaces, junctional areas, and torso application.
Benefits of the Anti-Unroll Brake Design
By preventing accidental unrolling, the Control Wrap eliminates the following risks that compromise trauma care under stress:
How to Use the TacMed™ Control Wrap
- Apply primary dressing first: Place a hemostatic or pressure dressing (e.g., Emergency Bandage, OLAES®, QuikClot gauze) directly on the wound before using the Control Wrap.
- Position the Control Wrap: Begin wrapping from one edge of the primary dressing, holding the roll firmly. The brakes will grip automatically if the roll is accidentally released.
- Wrap with consistent tension: Maintain steady circumferential pressure as you wrap. The brake surfaces provide grip reference points at each layer, allowing pressure consistency when changing direction or angle.
- Change angles freely: Unlike standard elastic bandages, angle and direction changes during wrapping do not risk unrolling — the brakes hold the roll in position between each wrap.
- Secure the terminal end: Use the terminal clip, tuck, or tape to finish. The Control Wrap holds applied pressure reliably without slipping.
- Document: Note time of application on the dressing or casualty card using a permanent marker.
