Tourniquet Arm Trainer
Hyper-realistic self-healing arm with a bleeding gunshot wound that stops when the tourniquet is applied correctly.
What is the Tourniquet Arm Trainer? A full-size adult-male arm task trainer built from self-healing, human-tissue-analog material, with a simulated gunshot wound and a bleeding vessel that stops flowing when a tourniquet is correctly applied. Offered in three skin tones. Ships with 1,000 ml artificial blood, tubing, and a hard plastic carrying case.

What It Is
Post-traumatic hemorrhage remains the leading cause of potentially preventable trauma death, and the evidence is unambiguous that tourniquet application is the single most effective intervention in the first minutes after an extremity injury. Correct application — high and tight, on the proximal third of the limb, windlassed tight enough to stop flow and secured without slippage — is a perishable psychomotor skill that degrades without practice. A blue trainer tourniquet on a tabletop teaches the mechanism but gives no feedback. This trainer gives both.
The trainer is a full-size adult-male arm (modeled on a 6′2″ build) of human-tissue-analog material — soft, yielding, anatomically representative, with realistic bone structure beneath. The simulated gunshot wound activates an artificial bleeding vessel when the IV bag is filled and pressurized. Trainees see bleeding occur, apply a tourniquet to a limb that behaves like a real limb, and get immediate visual confirmation when the application is effective: the bleeding stops. That feedback loop is what separates meaningful task-trainer practice from dry repetitions.
Self-healing construction lets the wound site be reused without replacement. The gravity-fed bleeding system needs no batteries, pumps, or power — setup is hanging the IV bag and attaching the tubing — making the trainer suitable for classrooms, outdoor lanes, and vehicle-based training. Three skin-tone options support diverse patient-presentation training across the range of casualties responders encounter.
Training Setup
- Fill the 1,000 ml IV bag with water or training fluid (artificial blood provided).
- Connect the bag to the arm’s bleeding vessel via the included tubing and clamp.
- Hang the bag above the arm for gravity-fed flow; open the clamp to begin simulated bleeding.
- Trainee identifies the bleeding site and applies the tourniquet high and tight on the proximal third of the limb.
- Trainee windlasses and secures until bleeding stops — the visible endpoint confirms effectiveness.
- Instructor assesses position, tightness, time-to-stop, and windlass security.
- Reset by closing the clamp, re-orienting the arm, and refreshing fluid for the next trainee.
