Product Overview
The VISM Level IIIA Ballistic Helmet fills a specific gap in Rescue Task Force and EMS ballistic protection programs: a budget-accessible helmet that delivers genuine Level IIIA Kevlar® protection without the premium cost of mil-spec procurement. For agencies equipping RTF teams from operational budgets rather than grant funding, the VISM helmet allows the program to place a helmet on every team member rather than restricting head protection to a subset of personnel due to cost constraints.
The Kevlar® shell provides proven Level IIIA ballistic performance — the same threat level as most soft body armor. At Level IIIA, the helmet stops handgun threats including 9mm FMJ, .44 Magnum, and similar high-velocity handgun calibers at velocities up to 1,400 FPS. This is meaningful protection against the most common threat types encountered during active shooter and civil disturbance scenarios. The four-point retention system with integrated suspension provides positive helmet stability under movement while the fully adjustable fit accommodates the variation in head size across shift personnel.
Two sizes — Large (22.0"–22.8") and Extra Large (22.8"–23.6") — cover the majority of adult head sizes in a law enforcement or EMS workforce. The carry bag included with the helmet allows hygienic storage and transport between deployments and provides a staging location when the helmet is not worn.
