FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
How long do I hold pressure with this hemostatic dressing?
TCCC protocols recommend a minimum of 3 minutes of direct manual pressure on a hemostatic dressing after application. Do not lift the dressing to check — disrupting the forming clot resets the timer. If bleeding continues, add additional pressure rather than removing the dressing.
Is the Dynarex Hemostatic Dressing safe for wound packing?
Yes. The kaolin agent is biocompatible and non-allergenic for most patients. However, this is a flat-pad format — for deep wound channel packing, a rolled hemostatic gauze product provides better channel fill and contact surface coverage.
Can this be used on head and neck wounds?
Hemostatic dressings can be applied to accessible neck wounds with controlled direct pressure. Do not pack the airway or nasal cavity. For severe junctional neck hemorrhage, use firm external pressure against bony landmarks and prepare for immediate surgical consult.
