Unlike tourniquet application, which can be practiced on a limb with relative ease, wound packing requires a three-dimensional training surface that simulates the texture, depth, and bleeding behavior of an actual wound. The TrueClot® Laceration Wound Packing Task Trainer provides exactly that: a purpose-built training wound with realistic external and internal anatomy that responds to hemostatic gauze application as a real wound would.
This Task Trainer has been enhanced based on extensive customer feedback. The most significant improvement is the redesigned blood flow path: the bleeding point is no longer in line with the inlet tube, eliminating an unrealistic artifact of earlier-generation trainers that made the wound anatomy easier to read visually. The inlet tube no longer protrudes into the wound space, creating a more authentic cavity that challenges trainees to pack the wound based on tactile feedback rather than visual cues from hardware. This forces development of the muscle memory and procedural confidence that translates to real-world performance.
The included 1 liter of TrueClot Blood Simulant and 5 packs of Simulated Hemostatic Training Gauze provide enough consumables for multiple training sessions out of the box. When the simulated gauze contacts the blood simulant within the wound cavity, it forms realistic visible blood clots—giving trainees immediate visual and tactile feedback on packing effectiveness. This clotting behavior mimics the mechanism of action of real hemostatic agents like QuikClot Combat Gauze and Celox, reinforcing the connection between training and operational performance.
