What is the Pulmodyne VT Select BVM with Manometer, PEEP Valve, and Filter? The Pulmodyne VT Select™ BVM (SKU: 2442-35590) is an AHA-recommended manual resuscitator with a proprietary Select Valve timed-refill mechanism that automatically limits bag refill to ~4 seconds, delivering approximately 10 breaths per minute at 500–600 mL each — clinically validated against hyperventilation. Includes an optional dial manometer for pressure monitoring, adjustable PEEP valve, and bacterial/viral filter. 1,200 mL bag volume. Adult patients >40 kg. Designed to eliminate accidental hyperventilation in emergency resuscitation.

Product Overview
The Pulmodyne VT Select™ represents a significant advancement in BVM design by directly addressing the most common BVM failure mode: provider hyperventilation of patients. Research has consistently shown that when using standard adult BVMs (1,900 mL bag), providers over-squeeze the bag and deliver tidal volumes of 800–1,000 mL at rates exceeding 20 BPM — far above the AHA-recommended 500–600 mL at 10 BPM. Hyperventilation reduces cardiac output, increases intrathoracic pressure, and is associated with worse outcomes in cardiac arrest.
The Select Valve solves this with a simple mechanical solution: when activated, it restricts bag refill to approximately 4 seconds. This automatically prevents the provider from delivering more than approximately 10 breaths per minute — the ventilation rate cannot be exceeded regardless of how fast the provider tries to squeeze. Activated mode delivers approximately 530 mL (one hand) to 690 mL (two hands) per breath, keeping both rate and volume within therapeutic range without requiring the provider to constantly monitor and self-correct technique.
The integrated dial manometer allows continuous airway pressure monitoring during manual ventilation — particularly useful for providers managing patients with lung disease, pulmonary contusion, or suspected pneumothorax. The optional PEEP valve can apply 5–10 cm H₂O of positive end-expiratory pressure when indicated. The bacterial/viral filter protects both the patient and provider from airborne pathogens. The 1,200 mL bag volume is intentionally smaller than standard adult BVMs, further reducing the risk of hyperinflation.
