TQ-RAM Pressure Point Device

A compact, hands-freeing pressure-point device for junctional and compressible wound sites — an accessory to the TMT tourniquet that holds directed compression while you work.

What is the TQ-RAM? A compact, hands-freeing pressure-point device (PN 31-150) designed to provide targeted compression at junctional and compressible wound sites not amenable to a conventional tourniquet. At just 0.62 oz, it functions as an accessory to the TMT tourniquet — securing over wound packing or against an arterial pressure point to maintain hemostasis while the responder attends to other injuries. Made in the USA; single-patient use.

What It Is

Conventional tourniquets are among the most effective hemorrhage-control tools available, but they are anatomically constrained to the extremities. Wounds in the inguinal (groin), axillary (armpit), and other junctional regions are among the most lethal in penetrating trauma precisely because no standard tourniquet can be placed above them. The TQ-RAM was built to address this gap: by integrating with the TMT’s strap, its arched dome delivers concentrated, sustained compression over a packed wound or arterial pressure point — freeing the responder’s hands to manage the airway, establish access, or treat additional casualties.

At 0.62 oz and 4.0" × 2.5", the TQ-RAM adds negligible bulk to a kit. Its arched-dome geometry focuses pressure inward to the wound bed rather than distributing it broadly like a flat pad, providing the equivalent of directed manual pressure without continuous hand engagement. Hemostatic gauze products generally require sustained manual pressure to achieve hemostasis — a demanding requirement on a single responder in a multi-casualty or active-threat scenario — and the TQ-RAM allows that pressure to be maintained while other life threats are addressed.

The TQ-RAM is sold standalone but realizes its full utility alongside the Tactical Mechanical Tourniquet (TMT). Together they form a hemorrhage-control system addressing both extremity and junctional bleeds at a combined kit weight under 3.6 oz. For hemostatic wound packing that pairs with the TQ-RAM, explore the hemostatic agents collection.

Operating notes. The wound is packed and the TQ-RAM dome positioned over the packed wound or arterial pressure point; the TMT strap is then routed so it overlies the dome and tightened to apply firm, sustained compression. Hemostasis is verified and monitored, with the strap re-tightened as needed, and wound packing plus application time documented. This summary is not a substitute for accredited training or local protocol.

Clinical Context

Junctional hemorrhage — from wounds in the groin, armpit, or neck — accounts for a disproportionate share of combat and trauma fatalities. Research cited in the Journal of Trauma (2013) identified junctional wounds as responsible for a meaningful share of potentially survivable combat deaths. CoTCCC guidance addresses junctional hemorrhage through dedicated junctional tourniquet devices for pelvic/groin wounds; the TQ-RAM fills a similar role at a fraction of the cost and weight, particularly for a responder who already carries the TMT. For mass-casualty or multi-patient scenarios, carrying multiple TQ-RAMs alongside TMTs can expand a responder’s hemorrhage-control capacity.
