Product Overview
The Israeli 8" Emergency Bandage (FCP-09) is the large-wound variant of the iconic Israeli Emergency Bandage family — the same lineage that has been standard issue in military first aid pouches for decades. Where the 4 in. and 6 in. versions handle extremity wounds, the 8 in. was specifically designed for the injury categories that exceed those bandages' wound coverage capacity: abdominal eviscerations with exposed organs, large amputation stumps, extensive burn wound surface areas, and blast injuries with multi-zone tissue disruption.
The 12 in. × 12 in. non-adherent wound pad — 144 square inches of sterile coverage — is designed to cover abdominal organ exposure and contain eviscerations without applying direct pressure that could harm exposed bowel. The integrated pressure bar mechanism offers a unique dual-use capability: for large area wounds and amputations, the pressure bar can be used to apply direct compression to the wound. For abdominal eviscerations, the pressure bar can be bypassed — the pad is laid over the exposed organs for coverage and containment without compression, and the elastic leader is used to secure the dressing without pressing on the eviscerated tissue. This bypass capability sets the 8 in. Israeli Bandage apart from any other single-product field dressing.
The Stop-N-Go release mechanism on the elastic leader provides controlled wrapping speed, preventing the elastic from slipping too quickly during application. The simple closure bar locks the bandage at the end of wrapping. All these features are operationally intuitive and can be performed by a trained provider with one hand, under stress, and with limited visibility. The 8-year shelf life exceeds most comparable products and makes this an excellent long-term stock item for trauma kits, surgical response teams, and mass casualty staging areas.
