They react to elevated body temperature to promote evaporative cooling on contact, meaning they work most effectively when chilled — but the moisture-permeable mesh also enables evaporative cooling at ambient temperatures.

How do Polar Skin Ice Sheets differ from standard cold packs or wet sheets?

Standard wet sheets provide only evaporative cooling. Cold packs provide only conduction. Polar Skin Ice Sheets deliver all three mechanisms simultaneously: conduction (cold contact from ArcticAqua-saturated mesh), evaporation (moisture vapor release through the 518 CF/M permeable Mini-Mesh fabric), and convection (air movement through the open mesh structure). The hydrofunctional polymer treatment provides 350% greater liquid retention than standard fabric, sustaining the cooling effect significantly longer than ordinary methods.
