The QUANTUM Controller (NAR item 35-0003) is the intelligent power management and temperature regulation module for the North American Rescue QUANTUM Blood & Fluid Warming System. Weighing just 3 oz, it bridges the 44V lithium battery and the thermal tubing set, dynamically modulating energy delivery to maintain precise normothermic output (100.4°F ± 2°C) at flow rates from 2 to 200 mL/min.

Product Overview
The QUANTUM Controller is the intelligence core of the QUANTUM Blood & Fluid Warming System. At just 3 oz, it is a lightweight, ruggedized processing module that continuously monitors temperature feedback from thermistors integrated into the thermal tubing wall and dynamically adjusts power delivery from the 44V lithium battery to maintain precise normothermic fluid delivery. This dynamic control loop enables the QUANTUM to maintain output temperature accuracy regardless of changes in input fluid temperature (from 39°F blood to room-temperature crystalloids) or flow rate variations from 2 to 200 mL/min.
Setup is deliberately intuitive: the controller connects to the battery via one cable and to the thermal tubing set via a second cable. Neither connection has a plug orientation requirement — there is no wrong way to plug in the controller. Upon connection, the system self-tests and progresses through a status indication sequence (green flash → blue flash → solid green) to indicate when the heating element has reached target temperature, which occurs within 24 seconds. For tactical environments where audible alerts could compromise operator safety, the QUANTUM Controller is the only FDA-cleared fluid warmer that permits disabling of audible alerts.
The controller functions as a standalone replacement part for existing QUANTUM systems with a damaged or non-functional controller. Organizations that field multiple QUANTUM systems should consider maintaining spare controllers alongside spare batteries to ensure no single component failure renders the full system inoperable.
