North American Rescue — Front-Pouch IFAK

ROO M-FAK Kit

A compact IFAK with one decisive feature: a dedicated front tourniquet pouch that opens on a single tab-pull, putting the C-A-T® in your hand for one-handed application without ever unzipping the main kit. At 7 × 3.75 × 4″ and 13 oz it mounts vertical on MOLLE or horizontal on a 3″ duty belt. Four colors, three configurations from BLS to ALS. Contents include CoTCCC-recommended items.

In extremity hemorrhage, tourniquet speed is the whole game — and most IFAKs bury the tourniquet inside the main compartment behind a zipper, costing seconds you may not have while you fight the kit open one-handed.

How do you get the tourniquet out fast without unzipping the whole kit?

The ROO M-FAK is built around the answer. Its defining feature is a dedicated tourniquet pouch on the face of the kit that holds the C-A-T® in deployment-ready orientation. A single tab-pull releases the pouch and presents the tourniquet for immediate one-handed application — no unzipping the main compartment, no disturbing the other supplies. Behind it, the main kit opens via a rugged side-zip for bilateral access, with elastic loops keeping the ETD™, gauze, chest seals, and gloves organized and visible. The shell is 500-denier nylon with a MOLLE backing for vest mounting plus a 3″ internal sleeve for horizontal duty-belt carry, and a 1″ PVC medical-cross ID patch is included for instant recognition; the kit is also compatible with NAR Quick Detach Panels. Three configurations let you match capability to training: Basic Life Support, Basic Life Support with hemostatic, and Advanced Life Support. Offered in Black, Coyote Tan, Olive Drab, and Ranger Green.

Provider scope: The Advanced Life Support configuration adds a nasopharyngeal airway and an ARS® needle decompression device — advanced interventions intended for trained medical personnel operating within their scope of practice and local protocols. This listing describes kit contents; it is not a substitute for accredited training.

When To Use It

  • context: Law enforcement patrol — officer-level IFAK optimized for the ROO™ M-FAK pouch, giving a pre-loaded kit that mounts to vest MOLLE or duty belt.
  • context: EMS and fire first-in responders — compact hemorrhage-control and airway kit for initial casualty assessment before moving to larger medical bag.
  • context: Military dismounted patrol — lightweight IFAK that fits in a plate carrier side pocket without affecting movement profile.
  • context: Civilian active-threat response — purpose-built kit for responders who train to TCCC standards and carry daily.
Best practice: Mount the kit in the MFAK pouch where the dominant hand can access it one-handed; rehearse the draw monthly so muscle memory is intact under stress.

How It Compares

ROO M-FAK Kit vs. generic IFAK assemblies: Generic kits may substitute off-brand tourniquets or non-CoTCCC dressings; the ROO M-FAK Kit specifies NAR components against CoTCCC recommendations for each mechanism of injury. See IFAK kits collection.

ROO M-FAK Kit vs. larger squad-level kits: The M-FAK is individual-carry (one casualty, one provider); squad-level kits carry additional resources for multiple casualties. The M-FAK is not a replacement for a squad bag on a medic. See hemorrhage control.

ROO M-FAK pouch vs. soft IFAK pouches: The ROO™ pouch is purpose-built for the M-FAK loadout; third-party soft pouches may not fit all kit components in the correct orientation for rapid access. See tourniquet pouches.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Does the ROO M-FAK Kit include CoTCCC-recommended items?

A: Yes. The kit is built around CoTCCC-recommended components for the top three preventable causes of traumatic death: extremity hemorrhage (tourniquet, gauze), tension pneumothorax (chest seal, ARS), and airway obstruction (NPA). Specific contents should be verified against the current product listing.

Q: What training is recommended to carry the ROO M-FAK Kit?

A: Minimum: TCCC Combat Lifesaver (CLS) or equivalent. Providers carrying the NPA or chest seal should have provider-level training that covers airway management and chest-seal application protocols.

Q: Does the M-FAK Kit include a tourniquet?

A: Yes. The ROO M-FAK Kit includes a CoTCCC-recommended C-A-T® tourniquet as the primary extremity hemorrhage control device.

Q: What is the NSN or procurement path for the ROO M-FAK Kit?

A: Available through MED-TAC International directly. DoD and agency procurement can reference NAR's GSA contract vehicles; contact NAR or MED-TAC for current NSN/contract status.

Q: Can the M-FAK Kit be restocked after use?

A: Yes. Each component can be individually replaced. NAR sells all consumable components (gauze, chest seals, NPA, ARS) separately through MED-TAC's hemorrhage control and chest/thoracic collections.
