The TacMed™ Patrol Trauma Response Kit (PTRK) by Tactical Medical Solutions is a belt-worn or MOLLE-mounted law enforcement and EMS trauma kit purpose-built for on-scene point-of-wounding care. It includes a SOF® Tactical Tourniquet Wide (SOFTT-W), Esmark bandage, compressed gauze or QuikClot® Combat Gauze LE (your choice), FoxSeal chest seal (2 dressings), and one pair of gloves — staged in a divided pouch that keeps the tourniquet accessible independently of the remaining contents. The standalone PTRK can scale up to accept the LAPD Kit, Patrol Rifle Response Kit, or standard Drop Leg Kit via the optional pouch-attaching strap.

Product Overview
Law enforcement officers face a unique point-of-wounding challenge: they operate alone or in pairs, frequently in environments where EMS cannot immediately enter, and must treat both themselves and others with whatever is physically on their body. The TacMed™ Patrol Trauma Response Kit was engineered specifically for this context — to be worn on the duty belt where it is accessible by the officer's own hands regardless of body position, and to contain the minimum effective set of tools to address the three leading causes of preventable traumatic death: extremity hemorrhage, junctional wound packing, and tension pneumothorax.
The internal divider system is a critical design feature. In real-world use, officers most often need the tourniquet first and independently — either for immediate self-application to an injured limb or for rapid application to a downed officer or civilian. Pouches without internal dividers require opening the main compartment and searching for the tourniquet while managing the casualty. The PTRK's divider keeps the SOFTT-W in a dedicated, independently accessible section so it can be extracted with a single focused motion. The SOFTT-W's wide-band design reduces pressure per unit area across the limb compared to narrow-band tourniquets, which is relevant for prolonged application scenarios where evacuation may be delayed.
The optional QuikClot® Combat Gauze LE configuration is strongly recommended for patrol officers given the prevalence of groin and axillary wounds from ballistic trauma — wound locations where tourniquets cannot be applied. Kaolin-impregnated hemostatic gauze is the current CoTCCC standard for wound packing in these junctional locations, capable of initiating clot formation within minutes when combined with direct manual pressure. For full CoTCCC guideline context see TCCC Guidelines 2026. The PTRK can scale as a law enforcement officer's career and assignment demands grow — adding the Patrol Rifle Response Kit creates a system that carries both medical and rifle ammunition on the same platform. See MED-TAC's IFAK & First Aid Kits for the full TacMed patrol system lineup.
