Product Overview

The T.O.R.K.® (Tactical Operator Response Kit) is one of North American Rescue's most widely adopted individual first aid kits, standard issue for law enforcement agencies and tactical units across North America. Its distinctive Red-Tip Technology® pull tab is instantly recognizable under stress, allowing operators to locate and deploy the kit even in degraded conditions. The MOLLE/PALS compatible pouch mounts securely to body armor and is compatible with NAR Quick Detach Panels for off-body staging.

The four-tier loadout system makes the TORK one of the most customizable IFAKs available. The Basic tier covers hemorrhage and respiration. Basic w/Combat Gauze adds CoTCCC-recommended hemostatic capability. Advanced w/Combat Gauze and Advanced w/ChitoGauze® add a 28F NPA and ARS® needle decompression kit for full MARCH Airway and Respiration management. The ChitoGauze® variant provides chitosan-based hemostasis as an alternative to kaolin-based Combat Gauze®.

Unique among NAR kits, the TORK includes 7.25 in. trauma shears and a polycarbonate eye shield in every configuration — making it a more complete operator kit than the M-FAK or Mini-TAK platforms. At 1 lb 5 oz and 7×4.5×2.75 in., it remains compact enough for all-day body armor carry.

What is Red-Tip Technology® on the TORK?

Red-Tip Technology® is North American Rescue's design innovation on the TORK where the pull tab and opener are distinctively colored red against a tactical (Black, Coyote, OD, Multicam) pouch exterior. This allows operators to immediately locate the opening mechanism under low-light, high-stress, or debris-covered conditions without visual searching. The one-pull tab releases the kit in a single motion, which is critical when adrenaline response affects fine motor skills.

What is the difference between the Combat Gauze and ChitoGauze variants?

Both are CoTCCC-recommended hemostatic dressings. Combat Gauze® (QuikClot) uses kaolin clay as the hemostatic agent — a mineral that accelerates the clotting cascade. ChitoGauze® uses chitosan, a derivative of chitin (shellfish-derived) with antimicrobial and hemostatic properties. CoTCCC recommends both kaolin-impregnated and chitosan-impregnated gauzes. Some operators with shellfish allergies may prefer Combat Gauze, though the chitosan reaction risk is low with topical use; consult medical oversight.

Does the TORK include trauma shears and eye protection?

Yes. Unlike many IFAKs that only include wound management supplies, every TORK configuration includes 7.25-inch responder trauma shears for clothing removal and a polycarbonate eye shield for ocular blast injury protection. These additions reflect the TORK's design for full tactical operator use, not just hemorrhage control alone.

Is the TORK compatible with NAR Quick Detach Panels?

Yes. The T.O.R.K. uses MOLLE/PALS style connectors and is compatible with North American Rescue Quick Detach Panels (sold separately). Quick Detach Panels allow the kit to be pre-staged and rapidly handed to a casualty or buddy-care provider. This is standard in vehicle medical kit configurations and Casualty Collection Point (CCP) setups.

How does the TORK address the MARCH protocol?

The TORK Basic covers Massive Hemorrhage (C-A-T® tourniquet, ETD™, S-rolled gauze) and Respiration (HyFin® Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack). Advanced variants extend to Airway (28F NPA) and enhanced Respiration (ARS® needle decompression kit). All variants include 2 pairs of nitrile gloves for provider protection and trauma shears for exposure. The kit does not include a hypothermia wrap by default, but the MOLLE exterior supports attachment of a mylar emergency blanket pouch.
