Product Overview
The Mid Height OTB adds lateral ankle support and a slightly taller collar to the established OTB platform — the same fin-friendly design, SEAL rubber outsoles, active drain ports, and ABS shank that make the OTB the standard-bearer for amphibious tactical footwear. The mid cut provides meaningful ankle enclosure for operators who conduct extended land movement after water infiltration — patrolling, room clearing, or sustained urban movement where lateral ankle stability reduces fatigue and injury risk compared to the low shoe profile.
The Achilles cutout at the rear collar is a subtle but operationally significant design feature. When swimming with fins, pointing the toes is the primary power stroke movement — a high-cut boot collar without an Achilles relief restricts this movement, reducing fin efficiency and increasing leg fatigue. The OTB Mid's collar dip at the Achilles allows full toe-point range of motion despite the taller boot height, maintaining the boot's fin compatibility through the additional ankle coverage. This design is visible on close inspection as a slight dip at the back of the boot collar compared to conventional mid-height tactical boots.
Both OTB variants are tested to the same military-design standard and share the identical functional feature set: 1000D Cordura® panels, non-metallic front drain ports, Ultron PU non-absorbing insole, rust-proof lace hardware, air mesh lining, and SEAL rubber outsoles. The choice between Low and Mid reduces to the operator's primary activity profile — the Low for maximum mobility and fin use, the Mid for mixed amphibious-and-land operations where ankle support has higher value.
