PRODUCT INFORMATION

The Slishman Pressure Wrap (SPW) is a multi-purpose elastic hemorrhage control wrap designed by emergency physician Dr. Sam Slishman. A red slip sleeve forms a cinch lasso for rapid loop-and-tighten application around any injured limb, with strategically placed hook-and-loop tabs that prevent unwinding mid-application. At just 1 oz and 4" × 1.6" × 1", it packs into any IFAK or pocket. Available in Grey and Orange. SKUs: 70-5002 (Grey) / 70-5005 (Orange).

Product Overview

Designed by Dr. Sam Slishman — an emergency physician who recognized that most real-world bleeding emergencies require a pressure dressing rather than a tourniquet — the Slishman Pressure Wrap bridges the gap between an Ace bandage and a full tourniquet. Its core innovation is the red slip sleeve: a lasso-forming cinch that slides freely along the wrap, allowing the user to loop it over the injured limb and pull tight in one motion. Unlike traditional stretch-wrap-and-tuck elastic bandages that unravel under stress, the SPW's strategically spaced hook-and-loop tabs bite down at each wrap turn, locking progress and preventing the bandage from loosening or falling off mid-application.

The result is a wrap that a trained medic, an untrained bystander, or a patient performing self-aid can apply effectively under stress with minimal fine motor dexterity. The white label at the end of the wrap has a dedicated field for writing application time — a critical documentation step mirroring tourniquet documentation standards. The wrap is finely adjustable: applied broadly and loosely for pressure dressings on minor lacerations, tightly for tourniquet-equivalent arterial occlusion on extremities, and at intermediate tension for hematoma control, wound protection, or splint securing. With repeated application in demonstration, the SPW achieves arterial occlusion sufficient to eliminate distal pulse in adult arms and legs.

At 1 oz with a 4" × 1.6" × 1" footprint, the Slishman Pressure Wrap is among the lightest and smallest hemorrhage control tools available. It adds virtually no weight or bulk to an IFAK, go-bag, or cargo pocket, making it a practical addition to any bleeding control kit alongside a windlass tourniquet. It is appropriate for tactical, civilian, marine, veterinary, and industrial first aid environments. The companion Slishman Pressure Wrap Pouch (sold separately) adds MOLLE and belt-mount capability.

How to Apply

  1. Loop — Slide the pre-formed lasso loop over the injured limb and position it at or proximal to the injury site; for an entrapped limb, use a girth hitch by threading the wrap through itself.
  2. Cinch — Pull the red sleeve down the wrap to snug the lasso tightly against the limb. This is the critical step that sets the occlusion diameter.
  3. Wrap — Spirally wrap the remaining elastic down the limb toward the injury. Apply wider, looser wraps for pressure dressings; narrow, tight wraps for tourniquet-equivalent arterial control. Each hook-and-loop tab tacks down the wrap to prevent it unwinding.
  4. Secure — Reach the white label at the end and press the hooks to the elastic to lock the wrap in place.
  5. Document — Write the application time on the white label. Reassess for bleeding control; adjust tension as needed for pain management.
