The Home AED (M5068A) shares its core technology with the commercial OnSite (M5066A) — the same SMART Biphasic waveform, the same pre-installed SMART Pads cartridge, the same green pull-handle activation, and the same step-by-step voice instruction system. The distinction is regulatory: the Home model is FDA-cleared as a prescription device specifically for home use by individuals with a physician-identified cardiac risk factor, making it eligible for certain state-specific exemptions and health insurance programs.
Upon activation, the device guides the rescuer through pad placement using a visual diagram on the device, begins SMART Analysis of the cardiac rhythm, and advises shock only when a shockable rhythm is detected. The Quick Shock feature minimizes the pre-shock pause to approximately 8 seconds after CPR, in line with AHA guidelines for minimizing CPR interruptions.
