The North American Rescue Tactical Extrication Device (TED) is a compact, non-rigid emergency stretcher purpose-built for casualty rescue in high-threat, limited-space environments. Two rescuers can drag or carry a casualty up to 600 lb through confined corridors, vehicle wreckage, or breached structures — stored in a shoulder-carry bag that folds to just 5 × 10.25 × 3.5 inches.

Product Overview
Conventional litters — even folding models — were designed for open terrain. The Tactical Extrication Device was engineered for the opposite: the inside of a shot-up vehicle, a narrow hallway with limited clearance, an urban breach point where two rescuers cannot stand side-by-side. North American Rescue, the manufacturer behind the C-A-T tourniquet and HyFin Chest Seal, applied the same mission-driven design philosophy to casualty movement and produced a non-rigid rescue platform that folds to the size of a paperback novel yet supports up to 600 lb of casualty weight.
The TCCC doctrine that governs trauma care in combat environments divides care into three phases: Care Under Fire (CUF), Tactical Field Care (TFC), and Tactical Evacuation Care (TACEVAC). Casualty movement is central to all three — particularly in CUF, where moving a downed operator out of the line of fire is the first lifesaving act. The TED enables that movement without requiring specialized equipment or a litter team. Two rescuers grip the integral handles and drag or carry the casualty through whatever space is available. The non-rigid design conforms to irregular surfaces and bodies, reducing secondary injury risk compared to rigid improvised carries.
At 1 lb 8 oz, the TED represents negligible additional load for any operator or medic. The included carry bag with adjustable shoulder strap allows it to be slung across the body, attached to a pack, or stowed in a vehicle's medical kit. When seconds count and you cannot get a rigid litter into position, the Tactical Extrication Device provides a credible, CoTCCC-aligned evacuation option that fits in your gear without compromising your load plan.
Operational Applications
- Vehicle extrication: Extract casualties from downed vehicles, MRAPs, helicopters, or confined vehicle interiors where rigid litters cannot maneuver
- Urban warfare / CQB: Move casualties through hallways, stairwells, doorways, and rubble fields
- Law enforcement operations: Extract officers from active-threat scenes, parking structures, and building interiors
- Mass casualty events: Lightweight, one-per-operator storage means entire teams can be equipped without logistics burden
- Search and rescue: Structural collapse and confined-space rescue where conventional litters are impractical
